Simply put, Pretty Poll connects your SAP Portal users with your company in the most cost effective and user friendly way.
Establishing and maintaining a solid relationship within your user community can be a real challenge for any firm no matter what size. The simple act of marking a Pretty Poll ballot tells admins what their users think about issues which may be important to them or the company. Clients leverage Pretty Poll to create that “family” feeling throughout their organization. Notify your employees of upcoming events, educate them on the latest products, or keep users up to date on current ad campaigns. Their contribution only adds to the quality of the community - and participation has a far greater impact than just a news item posted on the home page. By not allowing your users to vote and express their opinions, a corporation breaks that community wide connection. Use Pretty Poll to bridge this gap between users, administrators, and the company as a whole - get them involved!
When it comes to deployment, Pretty Poll seamlessly integrates into your SAP Portal theme with the same look and feel of your current styling. Sweetlets plug n’ play installation via a simple EPA file requires no additional fighting on your end to configuration and set up. Creating a poll has never been easier either. Use the WISYWIG Preview Pane while drafting a pressing question to your users. Pick your language and perhaps even give them a website url linking for a helpful hint. No more timely set up or confusing procedures to follow. Simple and straightforward steps get your poll live and ready for voting action in no time. This ultimately promotes admins to create more polls… and more often. And when it comes to analyzing the results, easy to read reports provide instant feedback. View your user’s opinions in whichever format appeals to you – bar, column, pie or table. No more waiting or unscrambling data to get an answer on an important decision you need right away.
Discover these and many more great benefits. Download Pretty Poll today and use this plug n’ play app in your SAP NetWeaver Portal.
To target a specific user group that can view and participate in a specific poll, content administrators can assign permissions for user groups at the iView level using the standard permissions provided by SAP NetWeaver Portal. Note that you can use more than one Pretty Poll iView in your portal, and you can even use multiple iViews per page. Each Pretty Poll iView contains its own set of polls and you can leverage SAP Portal permissions to assign user groups that can access each iView. If no poll is currently available for a specific iView, you can either hide the iView or display a message in the iView. You can make these settings in the Pretty Poll Configuration module. Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
You require a database for storing Pretty Poll data. You can use the same database that you use for SAP NetWeaver Portal, but we recommend that you use a separate instance so that the Pretty Poll data remains separate from portal data. Here are further detailed recommendations for different databases:
Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
Pretty Poll currently supports the following databases:
Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
Only one poll is shown at any given time in one iView. In the Administration module, in the Polls screen, the cog icon to the left of a poll indicates the currently active poll. If you need more than one poll on a page, you can add another poll iView to that page. Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
Any portal user can be assigned the Pretty Poll administrator role that we ship with our product. Any higher-level standard portal roles, such as content administrator and super administrator, automatically have the Pretty Poll administrator role. Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
We recommend that you use Flash Player version 9 or later. Adobe also suggests that you always use the latest version of Flash Player to avoid bugs and stay secure. Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
The Pretty Poll application is currently available in English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish and Italian. For the poll interface, you can define which languages you want to use for each poll, including the default language. Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
A: If you want to create another instance of a Pretty Poll iView that contains the same set of polls as the original iView, simply copy the original iView ID of the source iView, and paste the ID to the Source iView ID properties of the second instance. Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
There are no known compatibility issues. Pretty Poll is fully supported on any Support Package Stack for SAP NetWeaver Portal versions 6.40 and 7.0. Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
You do not need to assign a specific role to end users. You only need to make sure that they have access to the Pretty Poll iView. Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
Pretty Poll currently records data from the SAP User Management Engine (UME). Standard user attributes are recorded by default. However, you can use the Pretty Poll Configuration module to define custom user attributes. The only requirement is that you have maintained and mapped the user attributes correctly from the LDAP or MS Active Directory to the SAP UME. Also, check out a related FAQ, “Is Pretty Poll able to report on custom UME attributes found in the Java session?” And find some useful hints in our Click Stream FAQ section on, “ How to set up a recording on user attributes such as department, country, etc.“ Please contactsupport@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
The Pretty Poll frontend consists mainly of a Flash file that is stored in the software logic. The file is a few hundred kilobytes, but will be stored in the cache of the portal, proxy and browser, so that this amount of data is transferred only once. If you make the correct cache settings, you can thus minimize the load on the portal server and the network. During runtime, only user data, language-specific settings and the customer’s settings are transferred. Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
With Pretty Poll you can use any existing LDAP attribute you like. Please just use the tools provided by SAP to map the LDAP attribute to the UME and tell Pretty Poll which attributes to monitor. Also, check out a related FAQ, “Can we integrate data from our MS Active Directory or LDAP to create Pretty Poll reports?” And find some useful hints in our Click Stream FAQ section on, “How to set up a recording on user attributes such as department, country, etc.“ Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
There are different ways to install our business packages on NW 7.3. Our business packages for 7.3 consist of two files. The EPA package contains PCD objects like iViews, Pages, Roles etc. The EAR package contains the Java code. The EPA package can be imported using the System Administration through the portal as in the past. The EAR file now needs to be installed separately and this can be done with different ways:
Uninstalling old portal application version before deploying the new version using the deploy perspective of NWDS Now you can deploy the portal application files using NWDS:
Deploying the NW 7.30 Portal application files using NWDS You may also change your deployment strategy to always undeploy and version installed on the server.
Download the EAR file from our website and copy it to the import directory similar to this: usr/sap/sapmnt/trans/EPS/in. Start JSPM using additional config parameter. Typically you can find the batch file to start JSPM here: usr/sap/<SID>/J00/j2ee/JSPM/go -config=/jspm/deployVersionRule=updateAll -config=/jspm/forceMode=true Starting JSPM on help.sap.com Please consider to use the <SID>adm or administrator user. Then choose package type Hotfix and click Next. Select the file to deploy and confirm by clicking Next. We recommend to remove the EAR file from directory usr/sap/sapmnt/trans/EPS/in after a successful import.
Please note that this step is not required for the latest releases of the Sweetlets application. We rather recommend to download the EAR files for 7.3 from our website. In case you want to migrate installed packages after you upgraded your portal from 7.0 to 7.3 you may want to follow below description. For this procedure, you need to have system administration permission in the portal. The portal application files that you need to migrate after an EPA import are listed in the import summary screen:
Now you have the choice to use NWDS for deployment of the EAR files or if you choose to use the AS Java Telnet command line tool from SAP or JSPM running on the server. Please follow description above. For additional information, the SAP Community Network also provides some great insight into this procedure: How To Migrate Custom Portal Applications to SAP NetWeaver 7.3 Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.
Do you see an empty Flash? A right click allows you to select Play from the context menu? Please ask your administrator to verify two settings for the portal server. Please open: Visual Admin – Cluster – Server – Services – HTTP Provider – Properties.
Our SWF files are compressed already. SWF (Flash) files need to be on the list of never compressed items, otherwise the server compression may cause an error in the SWF files that are loaded by the flash plug-in in your browser. Please contact support@sweetlets.com for any additional help.

At Configuration > Settings > General Settings, you can enable polling of the individual anonymous users.
