The SAP TechEd 2010 has just started with the EMEA show in Berlin yesterday. Here is a brief review.

Keynote

Mark Yolton, SVP SAP Community Network took the chance to welcome more than 4,000 visitors to Berlin. He gave some overview on numbers and stats:

  • More than 15,000 people will attend SAP TechEd at 4 events in 2010
  • 60 Partners
  • 260 Technical Sessions
  • 5,700 Twitter Followers

Given the numbers above, what is what TechEd is all about? “Connecting in person!”

(**Hint** For 3 helpful tips on getting the most out of your visit, check out this blog post.)

Keynote speaker Vishal Sikka, CTO and SAP Board Member was talking about stack war and what other companies in the market do. “Nobody is looking for stacks, people are looking for solutions for their existing problems.” Continuous improvements and innovations have to be brought into existing landscapes.

NetWeaver Is Alive

Bjoern Goerke, Head of Development team, responsible for the SAP NetWeaver platform gave an overview about NetWeaver and the latest developments like the 7.3 platform. SAP has seen a tremendous adoption of NetWeaver technologies in their customer base. As of today:

  • around 18,000 productive customers running on NetWeaver
  • more than 6,000 customers are running productive portals, many of them with more than 100,000 users

First Blog about SAP TechEd 2010

Check out this blog from Dennis Howlett at ZDNet. While being in Orlando, Dennis managed to get up in the middle of the night to watch Virtual TechEd live. He then had his blog published only one hour after the keynote. That is impressive! Thanks Dennis.
